| Ultra Eco Natural Paints What you need to know about Natural Paints: Our Ultra Eco-Paints offer a superb performance with ecological and health benefits. They are directly comparable on price with other good quality Trade Paints and we have worked hard to minimise many of the harmful (health and environmental) side effects that most paints have in their retail formulations. Even compared to many 'natural' or 'organic' paint products, Ultra Eco-Paint has many advantages. Ultra Eco-Paints are manufactured in the UK, to NBT specification. They have the following benefits:
A Certificate of Supply can be issued for each Project. This is essential if you have to satisfy users of the building or subsequent owners that normal, high VOC paints were not used.
Types available Emulsion - matt finish Use - Ultra Eco Emulsion is a wall & ceiling paint for internal use only. It can be used on dry, porous and grease free surfaces e.g. wallpaper, plaster, and other painted surfaces. It may be used on timber suitably primed. It is not suitable for radiators. Properties - Ultra Eco Emulsion is a matt emulsion. It is formulated for reduced environmental impact and health risks in comparison with standard acrylic or vinyl emulsions. Being solvent free, it has very low odour in application and drying. It has excellent covering properties and is easy to apply. It is highly vapour permeable (with a vapour resistivity (r) of 1175 MNs/gm). Please note that due to the uniquely low TiO2/resin formula the paint appears more translucent on first application than standard emulsion paints, although it will dry to a trade standard opacity. Once dry the surface can be wiped down. Colour - Standard colours in 19 colours, plus white. Other colours, in larger quantities, are available to order. Sizes - 5 litres and 10 litres Coverage - Approximately 10 square metres per litre. Preparation - Surfaces must be sound, absorbent, dry, clean, and free of dust & grease. Stabilise all sandy/powdery surfaces with our UltraProof. All unstable (flaking or peeling) paint surfaces, especially water-soluble distempers, must be removed or washed off before applying Ultra Eco Emulsion. Oil paints must be lightly sanded and keyed appropriately. New lime plaster must be allowed to dry completely (a minimum of 4 weeks) before applying emulsion. Areas contaminated with fungal or algal growth should be treated with our Ultra Mold Cleaner before painting. Application - Remove any skin that has formed on the surface. Always stir paint before use. Ultra Eco Emulsion can be applied with a brush, roller or spray gun. Thin with up to 10% water if too thick, this could be necessary when using roller or spray gun. For porous surfaces, such as plaster, limestone, etc., apply a mist of Ultra Eco Emulsion thinned with water (up to 25% water to paint). Problem areas such as nicotine stains, soot, water marks or timber knots, must be rubbed down and sealed with a proprietary problem solving primer (such as clear shellac) to help avoid stains coming through the Emulsion. For a hard-wearing quality finish apply two full finish coats of Ultra Eco Emulsion. Drying Time - In normal temperatures and humidity, allow 4 hours drying time between coats. The painted surface is wipeable after 2 days. Eggshell Use - Ultra Eco Eggshell is a tough, high opacity multi-surface acrylic paint for use in many interior applications, including timber and walls. It dries to a smooth eggshell finish with outstanding water resistance and excellent adhesion. It is recommended for use in kitchens and bathrooms, and onto radiators. It can also be used externally onto timber with the Ultra Eco Oil based primer undercoat. Properties - Ultra Eco Eggshell has a matt appearance. It has been formulated for reduced health risks in comparison with organic solvent based products. As it is virtually solvent-free it has a very low odour during application. It has excellent covering properties and is easy to apply. Colour - Standard colours Pure White, Vanilla, Linen, Straw, Oatmeal, Pearl, Birch, Cotswold Stone, Blossom, Lilac, Duck Egg, Sky Blue, Sage, Smoke, Dusk, Coral & Terracotta. Other colours in larger quantities are available to order. Sizes - 1, 2.5 and 5 litres Coverage - Up to 14 square metres per litre, depending upon surface and porosity. Preparation - Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from loose and flaking material, dirt, grease etc. Repairs should be carried out prior to painting. Areas contaminated with fungal or algal growth should be treated with our Ultra Mold Cleaner before painting. Problem areas such as nicotine stains, soot, water marks or timber knots, must be rubbed down and sealed with a proprietary problem solving primer (such as clear shellac) to help avoid stains coming through the Eggshell. Stabilise all sandy/powdery surfaces with our UltraProof. Oil paints must be lightly sanded and keyed appropriately. Priming - Where surfaces such as bare plaster or timber need priming, dilute the Ultra Eco Eggshell with water and apply thinly. For bare plaster dilute the eggshell with up to 25% water (depending on suction), and for bare timber 10% water. After priming bare timber, the grain will be raised, so a light sanding will be necessary prior to application of the Ultra Eco Eggshell topcoats. For external applications and onto metal NBT Oil based primer should be used. Onto external timber a minimum of 2 coats of Oil based primer undercoat should be used. Application - Stir well before use. On timber two coats over a suitably primed surface are recommended for maximum protection. On walls one coat over the mist coat will be sufficient in most circumstances. This top coat may be thinned up to 5% to assist application. Ultra Eco Eggshell can be applied with a brush, roller or airless spray gun. Do not apply below 5°C. Drying Time - In normal temperatures and humidity, the paint is touch dry in 1-2 hours. Allow 4 hours drying time between coats. Gloss Use - Ultra Eco Gloss is a tough, high opacity multi-surface acrylic paint for use in many interior and exterior applications, including suitably primed timber, metal, and PVC. It dries to a smooth gloss finish with outstanding water resistance and excellent adhesion. It is recommended for use in kitchens and bathrooms, and onto radiators. It is also recommended for external joinery in combination with the Ultra Eco Oil based Primer. Properties - Ultra Eco Gloss has been formulated for reduced health risks in comparison with organic solvent based products. As it has very low levels of solvent it has a very low odour during application. It has excellent covering properties and is easy to apply. Areas contaminated with fungal or algal growth should be treated with our Ultra Mold Cleaner before painting. Problem areas such as nicotine stains, soot, water marks or timber knots, must be rubbed down and sealed with a proprietary problem solving primer (such as clear shellac) to help avoid stains coming through the Gloss. Stabilise all sandy/powdery surfaces with our UltraProof. Oil paints must be lightly sanded and keyed appropriately. Priming - Ultra Eco Gloss is primed with Ultra Eco Eggshell (white) diluted 10% onto bare timber, and up to 25% onto surfaces with high suction (such as bare plaster). After priming bare timber, the grain will be raised, so a light sanding will be necessary prior to application of the Ultra Eco Gloss topcoats. For external applications and onto metal and PVC Ultra Eco Oil based primer undercoat should be used. Onto external timber a minimum of 2 coats of Oil based primer should be used.
